About Higgie

I am currently taking courses at Johns Hopkins University for a master’s in Communications. My full time gig is as a rights and permissions coordinator for a book publisher. After graduating UCLA with a degree in English and a minor in public policy I landed the dream job of playing with toys and writing copy at eToys.com. Once the dot com bust occurred I found myself in a car driving cross-country to Washington, DC. After stints working for the Smithsonian and Georgetown University I grew connected to book publishing. I am very interested to see how the role of digital technologies will change the way books are published.

I’m interested in seeing how publishing develops too, and I thank you for the reference to The Writing Show interview with Anirvan Chatterjee at BookFinder.com. Have you heard our show about the networked book? You might enjoy that as well: http://writingshow.com/?p=170.

One of the big questions I have is where readers are going to come from. With all the competition for our attention, it’s easy not to read books, and especially not to buy them. But more people than ever want to write them. Where does that leave us?

Hi dear, I am Imtiaz and I am working as a “Community Support Officer” in Education Department in Pakistan.
I want to publish my book. It’s actually a compilation of fine movie quotes of about 350 movies. I have completed it in 3 years.
Please help me or guide me in this regard. Thanks

I think your commentary is poignant and insightful. As I don’t work within the publishing or media industries, yet am personally interested in the surrounding issues, I think the subjects you broach are relevant and accessible to a wide group of readers, both inside and out of the industry. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
